Alumni Highlight

Since our founding on the 40 acres, Alpha - Mu Zeta has produced men of character that have made lasting impacts not only on their communities, but across the country and even the world. Our extensive alumni network includes US and state legislatures, attorneys, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, professors, and actors. Below are some of these men. We are proud to celebrate the lives and accomplishments of our alumni.

David lambert AM 801

Brother David Lambert has been a quintessential part of the Lambda Chi Alpha Mu-Zeta and continues to be one to this day by remaining actively involved with our members. Born in Garland, Texas, Brother Lambert attended Garland High School and graduated with the class 1963. Due to his outstanding achievements, he was crowned Mr. GHS, and continues to introduce himself as such to this day.

Following his graduation, he attended the University of Texas from 1963-1967 and pledged Lambda Chi Alpha in the Spring of '64. During his time spent with the chapter, he served as the Alumni Liaison and was actively involved with rush. He was also active in other organizations on campus and thoroughly enjoyed his time spent at UT.

After graduating from the University, he felt that he had not been as active as he wish he could have been. So, with the help of a few of his brothers (namely Sean Moore, Rick Gentry, Ben Bynum, Brad Davis, and Bob Simpson), he became inspired to re-involve himself with the chapter by aiding the Alumni Advisory Board and visiting the Zeta multiple times in the last 30 years to speak about our core values. "Even though I was not Mr. LXA, the friendships that I made within this chapter have been very special to me for the last 50 years. There are some guys in this chapter that are truly like family to me. I got to pick my brothers and I have done an excellent job" says Lambert.

Throughout his professional life, Brother Lambert found great success in the Municipal Bond industry, founding 3 successful companies in the last 48 years. Recently, he has discovered his true calling and talent as an actor and will be moving to New York City in June to entertain (or torture as he says) thousands on and off Broadway. We someday hope to see him as a big star attending the Academy Awards and making us proud.

David also says he has been blessed with "two beautiful daughters, four grandchildren, and two great son in laws.”

Robert (Bob) Simpson AM 750

. Bob rushed that Fall 1962 semester, and found that Lambda Chi Alpha's values and character resonated with him. In specific, he was fond of the creativity he saw from Alpha - Mu actives and how they took pride in doing things differently than other fraternities.

   During his time as an active member of Alpha Mu, he served as the High Gamma, High Beta, and even a period as Interim High Alpha. He would later go on to be a part of the Alumni Advisory board for the Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity in the early 1970's.

   After graduating in 1966 and receiving his degree in Political Science with a minor in History, Bob went on to attend Texas Law. He received his J.D. in 1970. Next, he moved to Houston where he had the opportunity to work on Lloyd Bentsen's campaign. After spending time there he returned to Amarillo.

In 1974, he was elected to the Texas Legislature as a member of the House of Representatives, where he served for ten years. He was appointed to be Chairman of the House Insurance Committee for three sessions and twice received Honorable Mention by Texas Monthly magazine in its Ten Best Legislators issues.

   Talking with Bob Simpson, one quickly learns how strongly he believes in the importance of Alumni involvement for Lambda Chi Alpha. He states, "Fraternity is a life-long commitment." However, this is not simply a belief of his, but an ideal that he has taken upon himself to prove. Robert has shown just how impactful our Alumni are for our chapter's future by spending three years researching and composing the Alpha Mu Centennial. That history can be found here. His centennial is the most complete record of our history in existence, and will forever change how Alpha Mu's are able to understand and grow from our past. In addition to this incredible feat, he has attended and spoken at several chapter meetings.

He had two sons, who would both go on to attend UT. In 1986 he decided to move to Austin, where he has lived since. These days, Robert works with Leichter Law Firm. He enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren and woodworking. Robert is also an Alumni Advisor for the High Rho Office.

Sean mcdonald AM 1544.5

   Sean’s career spans 20 years and includes: serving honorably as an officer in the US Navy, an executive in Fortune 50 (Dell Inc.), starting/growing a small consulting business (Ant's Eye View), a senior consultant at Deloitte, an invited guest lecturer at UT’s McComb’s School of Business, and leader in building digital competency in Big 4 professional services firm (PwC).

   Sean originally went to the University of Alabama and was initiated as Alpha Phi 1044, but would transfer into McCombs School of Business.

   While at Alabama Sean went through formal rush. He thought he fit the mold of Lambda Chi and enjoyed the culture. When he transferred to UT he re-affiliated with Alpha Mu. He was very well accepted, and still maintains friendships today. He greatly cherished the friends he made. Sean describes himself as being a good student, but he also had a lot of fun with the chapter.

   Sean went on to graduate in 1986, however, he mentions that the banking industry/ financial sectors began to go away in Texas. He ended up joining the Navy and quickly became an officer where he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and the Europe Leadership award which recognized him as the #1 officer out of 650 officers in the US Naval operations across EMEA. Sean would serve in the Navy for nearly 7 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant.

   Since then, Sean has had a son who is currently living in LA while going to school and working, and a daughter who is attending NYU School of Arts. Sean also currently serves as an Alumni Advisor for the High Theta Office.
